I first tried doing this without adding the plugin to my store. I already had a GTM tracking code installed. This did not work for me. Once I installed the plugin, everything worked perfectly! Thank you so much for saving me hours and hours of headscratching (already losing my hair lol).

If Google Analytics is implemented using two methods, then yes, you could be collecting duplicate events.
hello! thanks for this video , I have a trouble when I go to the google analytics debug view I just 3 type of event , user_engagement, scroll, form-start but in the GTM preview I see all the event correctly . What can I do to resolve this ?

I have an observation to make. During checkout stage, begin_checkout and checkout_complete both are triggered even before the customer goes through with payment. On the Thank you page checkout_complete is triggered again. How can I modify these two events? 1. remove checkout_complete from the checkout_page and rename checkout_complete to Purchase?
When I connected to my site, it shows Connected, but when I went back to Tag Assistant , as shown in your video at 10:56, I had an error, but on the left under Summary, it did show the page I visited and item I added to cart, but they were both crossed out. Question, would this work if my site is currently in Maintenance Mode? Thanks for the video, very easy follow along and had no issue until this part.
Should one remove Google Site Kit after this implementation?
Great tutorial, ran into one snag where Google Tag Manager for Wordpress set the two radio buttons to Off & Footer after saving for the first time which caused issues when testing in debug mode. Make sure it saves as On and Off. A bit odd but hope this helps someone else out.
Why did you have 2x purchase in the tag assistant view?
5:40 track enhanced e-commerce option does not exist anymore. So do we select track e-commerce only?

Yeah guys, gout need GTM4WP installed since sitekit does not support "enhanced ecommerce". GTM4WP has the option to not activate the main gtm container, i think he goes over it in the settings. If you already have GTM active through sitekit, then select - do not insert container (in GTM4WP). You will still need to go into GTM4WP and insert your gtm id so it can send ecom data to your GTM account

You’ll need to check that the container is installed on the website.

hey, This was very helpful. But unfortunately I have google site kit previously installed on my website whose setting has a reference to google tag id. In google tag manager I can now see 2 tag ID. Also the debug view of google analytics shows - No Devices Available. Can you please tell if I need to remove google site kit.
Thanks man, I follow the tutorial and I have metrics on GA, but it does not reflect when the customers make purchases, I only have metrics about "add to cart" "view item" etc. But I dont have the "purchase" metric, can you help me? I follow the tutorial step by step.
Excelllent content. Only event trigger not working is "purchase". Could it be something I change in WooCommerce Settings? Or could it be related to redirection after purchase? Regards!
I did a test and it actually is the redirection. If I remove the php code for redirection, the puchase event works. Any recommendation how to send the purchase event with the redirection. Or even creating a trigger with the "thank-you" page that sends the purchase event?
thank you so much for the video! :) I have imported the file to GTM and connected everything with GA4. However the events (conversions), such as add_to_cart and begint_checkout do not show up in GA4. Will they automatically be there as events after a couple of days, or do I need to manually add them as events in GA4 and than mark them as conversions? Thank you! :)

Any clear reason why the Add to Cart event might display as "form_start" instead?
This worked perfectly! The only issue ran into was that view_item_list fires 5 times. Not a big deal, but wasn't sure why. Thanks for the video, this was a FANTASTIC HELP!

Hi, I have done everything you said in the video, but still, I don't get the purchase event fired. What could it be? I am sure something on the website is not working properly but the question is what? We did make custom thank you page after the purchase where the URL is more clean but all of the info about purchase confirmation is still on the page,... If you happen to know what it could be, it would really help me. Thank you! BTW I love your videos and the way you explain things!

Hi Ben! Thank you very much for great information and content! I need your guidance, please. I have done the setup, I can see all events in GA4 except the purchase event. I have made several test purchases, dataLayer is correct and I can see the actions in Tag Assistant and I can see the purchase event in GA4 DeBug View with all parameters including currency and value. However, I cannot see the purchases in the reports. There has been many purchases made since implementing and there has been more than 48 hours so probably not the delay. Nor Google Signals and threshold causing this. I added purchase as an event as well. Any idea what might break my setup and how to find a solution? Thank you very much!
Leaving this here if someone else has the same issue. It works now for me =) I do not really know what caused the issue but I removed everything (including the plugin GTM4W) and did everything from scratch again for the 2nd time and then it started working. Do not give up and keep on trying if you have the same issue, good luck and thanks again for amazing content!

@@davidutassy9081 Hey David! It can be demotivating but you will get there! No, sorry. I did not find out what exactly was the root of the issue but the solution for me was to do everything from scratch again. I mean everything, even removing and adding the tag manager script on the website itself. And then the next day it worked. Let me know how you go and if you want we can jump on a call and troubleshoot together if it is to any help

Hello! I followed all of the steps, my google tag manager is working well as in the video, but the debug view on google analytics g4 is not working, as well as the report of sales that appear without value. However it measures the visits. What could be making this?

Thanks! I was wondering how can we manage the ecommerce events based on consent mode v2? Currently they are firing before the consent mode?
If you’re using the GA4 event tag, then it automatically adjusts based on the consent status. It’s actually expected that it will still fire. If you’re using another tag, you will need to adjust the trigger based on the instructions for your Consent Management Platform.

Add to Cart isn't showing in my test. Does this perhaps not work if your product page is rebuilt by a plugin? In my case, I'm using the Beaver Builder page builder which adds a custom template for the store page, perhaps there's something different about the add to cart button in this case?
So add to cart is working for a simple product, but not for a variable product. I'm investigating to see what's different about these two. Purchases are tracked correctly, which is the main thing, but it would be good to know why variable add to cart isn't being tracked. I have contacted the plugin author.
Great video, I did it exactly as in the video and it worked correctly in the debug, showing all the events. But in production mode, when real customers add to cart or make purchases, this is not recorded in the analytics records, what could be? help me please
I’d check that value and currency are coming through in the DebugView and that the container is published. If both of those steps have been completed, then the other thing to note is that there is a processing delay. So you’ll need to wait a day for data to appear in your reports.
@@LovesData Thank you for responding, I managed to solve the problem, which was actually a lack of attention, I'll leave it here to help other people. When configuring GTM I published it before defining the events, after I defined the events I forgot to publish. I checked and after I published, everything is working correctly. I don't see the purchase hit and the Data display in debug view, why?
Question, I've followed the tutorial. I've added the Google Analytics | GA4 | Page View, even though I use Google Site Kit plugin and am not sure if I'm measuring page views twice now. I've turned the container thingy off in the GTM4WP plugin. I've added your container and changed the measurement ID. However, no hits are sent to GA4 in the Tag Assistent and also in the Debug View in GA4 nothing comes in. How do I fix this?
I've bought your GTM course a couple of weeks ago and only have the final assignment left! Before I was so overwhelmed by all the tags, triggers, variables etc. that I couldn't get through tutorials like this and now I did! If only I could get it to work... ;)
Hi Lisette, you will need the ‘Container Code Placement’ enabled. Setting it to ‘Off’ will mean it’s not added to your website. So I’d do that first and then retry previewing your container.

For anyone reading this with the same problem, here was my solution. I checked, in the settings for Google Analytics in the Google Site Kit plugin, to exclude site visitors who are logged in from GA. That's why no hits were send to GA, because I was logged in. I changed the settings and now the hits are send.

Thank for tuhe tutorial. When i'm on debug mode, i can see the events on the site but in Hits sent, there is nothing to display. The debview on Analytics doesn't show anything either. What went wrong ?!
For me it was the "Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on (by Google)" browser extension that was causing that.

everything worked really well until the data displaying in analytics part, i can see events firing in the tag manager but its silence on the analytics debug page!!

@@LovesData I get no real time trafic in GA do you know where can be the issue please ? Seems that there is an issue with the Google analytics tag. I used to use Monsterinsights for GA and when I reactivate the plugin the issue is fixed. So the issue is in the GA tag but cant find where...

Suddenly I'm not getting any data from customers but I do see my own transaction when doing preview from google tag manager and makes a purchase. I have followed your link for debugging but still can not find anything wrong. Any more ideas? Start to suspect the GTM4WP-plugin that was recently updated. Any clues?

I went through the set up steps. I am getting events on the GTM tag but there are no events/hits sent on the G-/Google Analytics tag and nothing is populating in Google Analytics debug View. Here are two differences on my end from what I see in your tutorial. 1. On the Google Analytics tag, on sources it says: Tag in container and On-page gtag('config'). 2. I also get an AW/Google Ads or Adsense tag that pops up. Any tips on how to get events to appear in the Google Analytics tag? Thanks.
Followed the steps, but the tag didn't fire. :/ I have a punch of tags made with your videos: Conversion linker, Facebook Pixel, GA4 Config, Google Ads conversion and remarketing, Analytics GA4 conversion tags
Can they conflict with eachother?

I don't see the "enhanced ecommerce" option :(
For unknown reason, when i test with the tag assistant in the debug view, the "GTB-#######" registers the triggers, but not the Google tag, mine show as "GT-#####" instead of "G_6F75###" Shown in your video
